Dear all,

Talk about last minute!

I am a complete VBox newbie but should take delivery of a new VBox Pro a friend has sourced for me this afternoon.

I am driving from Birmingham, UK to Germany first thing tomorrow morning with the intention of heading out on the Autobahns for a couple of days so I have very little time to learn how to work VBox before I go!

A couple of questions about VBox Pro:
1) I know you can connect a USB memory stick to it for "data logging" - can you actually record the video on to a USB memory stick instead of an SD card, or do you have to use an SD card.

2) If you have the data overlays (i.e. speedo, GPS data etc.), will this appear on the video itself or can you specify if you want it to export the video file without the overlay? (I am producing a student TV documentary so would need the raw footage without the overlays, but would be good to have both versions with and without if possible).

Prompt replies appreciated as I'm off at 7:00am tomorrow morning!

Many thanks,
Al

PS. I am aware you are not allowed to film at the Nurburgring. Do they strictly enforce this or do they not really mind?

Hi there Al,

1. Yes you can record directly to a USB stick - you need the cable RLCAB073 to be able to connect the USB to the VVB Pro. :D

2. The VVB will have a standard overlay loaded into it which will be merged to the Video file before being logged to the SD card. You can create a video overlay which contains no elements (gauges etc) and load this into the unit.

In this case, no video overlay will be created. There is one video file made, and this will be merged with whatever video overlay you have loaded before it is written to the card.:D

You are go correct that they do not allow filming at the Nurburgring. They do enforce this quite strictly - it depends how good you are at hiding the camera
