I'm looking at installing a brake trigger switch on the VBOX III unit I have. I've already performed tests with a simple switch, but I have a brake light output on my ECM that I could use as a trigger. However can I supply 12v to the digital input (DIG IN) on the VBOX III for use as a trigger? As all my past tests I've just closed the circuit on the two wires to act as a trigger. Not sure if the input can handle voltage.

Hi Rimi,

You cannot input 12v to the brake trigger input, it requires a ground level input to trigger. We have two products that would suit your needs; the first will interface with your vehicles brake light line as you have suggested: RLACS157 (http://www.racelogic.co.uk/_downloads/vbox/Datasheets/Accessories/Brake%20TriggerInterface-ACS157-DATA.pdf), the second is a flexible switch that fixes to the brake peddle: RLVBACS004 (http://www.racelogic.co.uk/_downloads/vbox/Datasheets/Accessories/RLVBACS004_Data.pdf).

I hope this helps

What about the use of a CAN message? I have messages being transmitted for the brake pedal that I could read. As far as the other suggestions I need it to trigger as soon as the brake pedal starts to be depressed. I believe the flexible trigger you have will now close the circuit until it is completely depressed. Also do you have a trigger that is placed inline with the brake light that would also work for 24v? The one you linked to appears to be only good for 12v. I have other equipment that will need to be tested that are 24v machines.
