Hi guys,

my tracktion control worked for years but we changed a lot of stuff at the car and now i always have a cut out at about 4500 rpm.

Could it be that the pulse rate from the SKF wheel bearings are not the same or what can cause a fuel cut out at such low rpm when the TCC is switched to 20%?

Does anybody have a good working adjustment for a blown corvette C5?

Hi hotparts,

Have you checked your RLTC connections since making changes to the vette?

Could you connect your RLTC ECU to a laptop/PC via RS232 cable and record us a live log file please. If you could you send it to support@racelogic.co.uk that would be great

Jonnie

I have had this system on my C6Z since 2009 and have had nothing but issues.

But I don't think it's the racelogic control module itself.

I am using the recommended amplifiers that increase the signal strength of the wheel speed/ABS sensors (I was told this was a requirement when I bought the system from LG).

Intially, it seemed to work fine. However, soon after it would start to cut out all the time. I have the digital unit and I can monitor the wheel speed inputs. The problems is that the wheel speed signals seem to periodically not work, as the digital readout will read 0mph on one or more wheels when the car is misfiring.

Initially I thought it was a problem with one of the amplifiers, but i put a new one in and the problem was the same. The wiring at the ABS module that you have to tap into is somewhat hard to get to, but I have checked all the wiring and there are no loose connections.

The actually GM sensors seem to be working as when the racelogic is off, there is never any problems with the factory traction control/stability control/ABS working.

The strangest issue is that the misfiring problem/no wheel speed input is periodic but seems to be worse when the car is cold. After driving around quite a bit, the problem seems to go away. But because the whole reason I put this in was for autocross, it makes it useless as if it misfires at the beginning of a run, the run is shot. For autocross I need it to work 100% of the time.

I have considered installing the actual racelogic wheel speed sensors into the hubs and bypass taping into the stock sensors, but that does not appear to be a simple task.

I also have SKF wheel bearings. I'm wondering if putting regular GM bearings in would be better? From what I have read on the forums, guys running the Racelogic on C5s seem to have no issues but guys with C6s always do.

Hi Trompazo,
Sorry to hear you’re having issues with your traction system. I have a few questions which are as follows…

Have you made sure the factory traction control is turned off?

Does your ABS warning light illuminate or flicker on at all?

Can you confirm that the Racelogic Traction Control System was working fine when first installed?

Was anything changed on the vehicle after installing the Traction control system.

I wouldn’t think the wheel bearings would make a lot of difference unless they failed and caused the wheel speed/abs sensor to move to and from the pick-up.

The next thing to do would be to save out your Traction ECU settings and record a live log for us. After this has been done, please send both these files to me for analysis. (support@racelogic.co.uk)

If you require instructions for these procedures, please let me know.

Regards,
Jonnie.

Hi Jonnie,

1. I always disable the factory traction and stability control when racing, and it completely disables and does not come on again unless I turn it on.

2. The ABS light has never came on in any scenario, and the ABS works fine and when I do turn the factory stability and traction control on (and turn the racelogic off), the factory setup works normally.

3. The racelogic seemed to work perfectly fine for 2 days when installed. After I towed the car 2000miles for the first race it started acting up and gradually got worse. This suggests a loose connection to me but I haven't been able to find any. The strange thing, and it makes it very hard to test, it the problem seems to go away after I drive the car around for about 10 minutes. So it appears that heat possibly has some factor. But for the type of racing I do, I need it to work as soon as the car turns on or otherwise the system is useless.

4. The wheel bearing where all brand new and installed at the same time as the Racelogic.

5. Car is down right now getting suspension work but soon as it is running I will send you a log.

Thanks!

OK, I sent you then files via email.

Still having issues. Went to a 4 day racing event and it actually worked fine for one day, and the other 3 days it would keep cutting out. Looking at the display on my digital controller, it seems that one or more than one wheel intermittently says 0 km/hr for a few seconds and then comes back on.

Replied via Racelogic Email.
