    Default Porsche 924 race, Rockingham

This is video from my VBox Lite that I fitted in a friend's Porsche 924 race car for the very last race of the 2011 season of the BRSCC Porsche Championship. I think the camera and mic positions have worked out quite well - I just used slightly the wrong circuit map and in the wrong colour!

Her earlier race resulted in a better finish but the power cable had fallen out between the garage and assembly area without me knowing - so I missed the entire race!

    Hi,

Thanks for the video - looks good

Sorry to hear that you had issues with the power supply. The power cable does screw into the VVB Lite unit so I'm guessing the connector fell out of a cigar lighter in the vehicle? It is a shame to have lost the better footage!

Orange is a good colour to use for the track maps - this seems to show up well over most vehicle bonnets or sky.

Have you updated to the latest release of Video VBOX firmware and software? The new versions contain an 'Auto Track Map' element, which uses the GPS location to load in a track map and SF line. At circuits where there are multiple layouts, the user can select which layout they want to use through the OLED display.

Check out this document which has details of all the new features !

Thanks for the PDF - couldn't find the auto track map when I looked last night but I was looking in the wrong place I think. But is it going to help if I don't have an OLED as well? Will it still be able to work out not only which circuit but also which S/F line to use?

The auto map will still work, but unfortunately you will not be able to select layouts.

When you do not have an OLED, the auto map will work as follows.

If multiple tracks are found for the current location and no OLED display is at hand the track map widget will default to:

    1.The first matching ‘combo’ map
2.The first track alphabetically on the list

So for example, if you arrive at rockingham, it will display the combo map shown on page 4 of the pdf. This should cover most layouts and the SF line for these will also load in automatically.

However, if you arrive at Silverstone, and want to drive the National Circuit, the Auto map will load the GP circuit and you will not be able to change the SF line.

So the auto map element only works all the time when the user has an OLED display....

OK, will stick to manually tweaking the loaded scene file each time. I take a laptop with me anyway so its easily done. Thanks.
