Default Wheel speeds and Frequency Input Module

    Hello all,

Has anyone used the Frequency Input Module (RLVBFIM03) to capture wheel speeds that are not supported by the cars CAN? I am testing a 03 Ford and am 90% sure that the wheel speed is measured by a hall effect sensor.

I am thinking I can use the module to measure this and was wondering if anyone out there has done anything similar.

    Thanks

    Dan

    Hi Dan,

The whole point of the FIM03 is to take input frequency data from a sensor, so no CAN info is necessary.

As long as the sensor in question is a passive, not active sensor and within the input range of the FIM03 then the hall sensor signal can be used.

If you have any more specific details on the sensor used to detect the wheel speeds then we can definitively check whether these will work with the FIM03.

If it is of any use to you, I have attached the manual for the FIM03 to this post for your reference.
