Errm, schoolboy question I suppose, but how do I check what version is actually installed in the VVBox please?

You've got two ways to check.
One way is to open up your video vbox setup software, connect your powered up vvb to your computer using the usb cable, and then click on the help/about tab at the top of the screen.
Your second option is to record a short vbo file, and then open it up in text editor. It should then display the version type in the comments section.
Hope this helps. I'm off to eat some pizza now!

Hi, just wondering if I upgrade to v3 firmware, can I use existing scenes? Or will I have to install the latest setup software and re-save all my scenes in that?
Thanks,
db![]()
Hello Loppy - If you have an NTSC scene loaded into your unit at the time of update then it will remain set as an NTSC box.
If you did find that the unit is not accepting NTSC scenes, just run the NTSC update to fix the unit type![]()
To get the best use out of the new features I would recommend upgrading your VVB unit and installing the new software (also update your OLED if you have one).
13711pmms - when you update the software from V2.14B174 - V3.00B202 all your scenes will automatically sync from the old version to the new![]()
All V2 scenes can still be used with V3 - and V3 scenes can be used with V2 - as long as no unsupported features (e.g auto track map ETC) are included in the scene.
Hope this is helpful![]()
Just to confirm (and so that I can look back here when I forget!) if you are running the metal clad OLED (RLVBDSP04) I found the instructions for upgrading in post one a little confusing. My box is engraved with a RACELOGIC logo giving the impression of a top and bottom, in this case you press and hold the UP key when plugging in. The illustration in the OLED manual is correct.
Also, with the "Pro" 4 camera VVBox it seems the cable has to be plugged into the "SER" serial outlet and into the bottom socket on the OLED (serial in) On my previous box I had a splitter cable for the CAN and the OLED![]()
Anyway I'm all updated now, it's easy when you know how![]()
Hi, I've been trying to upgrade a VD20P vbox pro to V3 from V2 and it fails giving a message saying 'Update bundle extracted OK
Failed to open update definition
Update failed.'
I've used the 'Watershed' file from your website. What could be the problem?
Hi 13711pmms,
Can you confirm the current version of firmware that is installed in your VD20P VBOX Pro? If you have a really old version of firmware installed, you may need to do a staggered upgrade.
Nevertheless, let me know what version of firmware you currently have, and I will test this for you![]()
One other point, can you confirm what media you are using to perform the upgrade? Upgrades are best performed using a SD card, but whatever media you are using, it may be worth formatting the card/stick, and re-copying across the 'watershed' file to try again.
Let me know the version, and how you get on![]()

Hi Newland46,
Thanks for your reply. I'm now working this out with Lucie via email. I've emailed her the vbo files and hopefully should have some answers soon.
Thanks.
Hi, when uploading to V3 on a VVB the unit needs to powered up and how long should it take to upload?
hmmm, ok did the upload, then a txt file occurs telling me it failed, does one load the SD card and wait until it beeps continuously or should it be only one beep?
sorry for the running commentary, a tad confused down here in Aust.
