View Full Version : Making sense of UTC time

Have some data from some testing and wanted to confirm which run of data corresponded to which set of paper test notes. Figured the easiest way would be just to pull the time out of the logs.

Looking at the UTC logs I get values around 82500, now I figured this was going to be in seconds past UTC midnight. Except that my testing was at about 0830 UTC.

So then I thought, perhaps it is the same as the CAN output, as a count of 0.01s past UTC midnight, but that gives a nonsensical answer to.

In the end I just used other data to correlate between runs and paper notes, but I curious to know what the UTC time is actually outputting?

How embarassment...

Okay, I just found this thread (http://www.racelogic.co.uk/Forum/showthread.php?t=998) and answered my own question.

I'd delete this thread to hide my shame... but better that it stays here as a reference in case anyone else should have a blonde moment such as mine.

Haha no worries mate, it happens to the best of us!

We've had test engineers at big vehicle proving grounds in the UK ask the same question!!! ..... dare I say they went a little quiet after we pointed it out :D
