Are these still available? What sort of money are we talking about for one?
I have a Specialist Components ECU that claims to have a CANbus output, and I have a datalogger that has a CANbus input. Sadly, the ECU isn't popular enough to make an interface so that the ECU can talk to the logger, so I think I'm stuck with finding a way of logging the ECU info via CAN.
And then I found this product!
The ECU CAN stream is, apparently, a CAN 2.0 1Mb output, and I have a data sheet on the output (CAN ID, Name, Description, Units, Data Type, Position, Update Frequency (Hz), Engineering Scaling), so to me it sounds as though I could select certain outputs (I currently only have one spare input on the logger, but if this works then I would be able to free off a few more) and log them.
Many thank, Tristan

Hi Tristan, welcome to the Racelogic forum :)
If your logger has a CAN input and you know the IDs from the ECU, can you not configure the logger to record the CAN directly? It sounds like you have enough info to be able to do so...
If not, an email is on its way to you concerning the DAC01.

Thank you for the reply. Much appreciated.
Our logger is a Racepak IQ3, and whilst it supports CAN via its Vnet system, they don't release the data format, so it be difficult or impossible for someone like me to work if out and convert the ECU datastream to the Logger datastream. Hence being on the lookout for suitable commercial alternatives.
Will read the email and have a think. Thanks again.

Well potentially we could reverse-engineer it for you, but you'd have to bring the car here and there would be a charge for doing so. But it might be cheaper than a DAC :)
