Project Engineer

Working as a part of our hardware design team this role will suit somebody with a keen interest in electronics and the product design process.

Acting as the first point of contact with the rest of the business the project engineer will be responsible for a range of tasks related to the development of new products and the support of existing ones. From dealing with requests to find new components to mitigating issues with obsolescence the successful candidate will be liaising with our PCB layout engineers and mechanical designers to find solutions to problems.

Reporting to the hardware engineering manager the successful candidate will likely have a degree or vocational qualification in electronic engineering and have worked in a design office or for a company making electronic products. They should also be able to:

  • Communicate clearly and concisely at all levels
  • Solder small PCB surface mount components
  • Demonstrate the ability to understand a circuit diagram and schematic layout

An interest in cars/motorbikes or motorsport would also be an advantage as would experience of PCB layout software and/or professional CAD software.

Candidates will be required to undertake a basic online aptitude test and may be asked to complete a Belbin® Self Perception Inventory to understand their team role as part of the interview process.

Salary and sales commission/bonus will be commensurate with experience and you will be able to participate in the employee share scheme once you have completed your probationary period.

Production Operative

Working as a part of our established production team you will be responsible for the assembly and testing of small batches of our range of products as well as performing final test and dispatch processes, for which you would be required to demonstrate the following skills:

  • Ability to solder connectors to cable assemblies
  • Be able to follow written process instructions
  • Basic computer skills with experience of the Microsoft office suite

The successful candidate must have experience of soldering small PCB surface mount components gained in a commercial environment and will ideally have experience of testing equipment and preparing orders for dispatch.

You should also be able to demonstrate, and give evidence at interview of, your attention to detail and a focus on quality with the ability to work to build schedules and meet deadlines.

Customer Support Technician

This role will be split into the following parts:

  • Technical support of our products by providing telephone, e-mail and Skype based responses to our global customer base and network of distributors.
  • Technical documentation updates and also creation of new documentation when new hardware or software is released.
  • Product testing for the entire Racelogic product range including software, firmware and hardware (requires a full UK driving licence).

We are looking for someone who can demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills and is self-motivated, able to work with the minimum of supervision, and has the ability to multi-task.
Essential requirements for this role:

  • A clear, concise writing technique and a polite telephone manner
  • Customer service experience in either a retail or office environment
  • Ability to demonstrate a logical approach to troubleshooting – probably gained in a hardware or software support environment
  • A positive attitude and good team working skills
  • Full clean UK driving licence

One or more of the following would also be beneficial:

  • An understanding of vehicle data acquisition
  • Exposure to vehicle CAN and GPS technologies
  • Technology testing experience
  • Basic electronics knowledge
